Day 169 - Erin's Transformation

Erin has been a follower of mine for a while now. Not only is she a fitness nut like many of my other readers, but she is also a graphic designer who helped me design my logo and blog. She has had her own obstacles to overcome to leading a healthier life, but has gotten past them and focused on the most important part - "Do your best, and forget the rest!"

Erin's story:

I was disabled in a car accident back in 2006. I broke my upper right humous bone and with the help of bad doctors the bone was not stabilized as it healed which cause the bone to shift disrupt nerves and puncture muscle. I had surgery to remove some the spearing bone but was left with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome which basically means I have nerve damage (constant pain) and loss of motion in my right arm, neck and upper right side of my back. I've always fought the pain to do the things I took for grated before the accident. I always worked out but it was always just going for walks or doing the treadmill it wasn't until after my daughter was born that I realized I had to push harder to keep as much motion and strength in my arm as possible so I could do as much for her as I could. That's when I was introduced to P90X from a friend.

I was hesitant as first, feeling out each workout and doing them to the best of my ability until I felt comfortable. But then Insanity and Insanity Asylum came into my life and I fell in love.  There's something about Shaun T's personality (I love you too Tony) that just makes me fight with all my being, pushing past the pain to build the muscle that will keep me functioning and being the best Mom I can be. I am now able to raise my above 90 degrees which is where I started. I make sure I get my workouts in 5 days a week, I still have to feel out weather it's a Max/Ayslum day or a regular short Insanity day with some strength training, (I have also found that push up stands work best for any plank work because it distributes the weight and is not so much pressure on my right arm) but I will alway do something and push through the pain to be the best that I can be for my daughter and family!
